    Foggy morning

Well since I have done well on my first one, thought I would try another. This is a shot of Clear Creek Lake which is a smaller lake leading to the larger Cave Run Lake. I had to stop as I was going in and get some shots of this. This was done with a borrowed Digital Rebel and my 35-80 lens. Hope you all like it.

This is interesting - It doesn't seem really like a photograph as much as a painting, for it has a diffused effect, which I've seen several wildlife painters create. I like the photo, it has a lot of subtle colors that entice. The hill on the right adds something to the shot. Howver, if there was a deer or something in the middle or 1/3rd inflection point, I think the pic would be stronger. This would give the viewer somewhere to focus on (or somewhere to 'rest their eyes', as I've heard). Not sure if that's a cabin in the bottom right btw... might be I guess. I wish it was bigger, it might act as the subject.

Nice overall work and good eye! -Gb

    Hi Srobb,

    Good catch!

I feel that the colors are a bit cold, though. Maybe removing the cyan cast might give it more warmth? Just a guess.

It definitely feels like a painting to me as well. I agree with GB that it lacks of a focal point or stronger foreground. But otherwise, it is a very pleasant shot.

    Cheers,

    Steph.

    Re: Foggy morning

Thanks Steph and GB. Actually this is a small lake that had the fog still coming off of it. The object in the lower right corner is actually a diving platform. This was still early morning when I took this shot. When I came back by there in the afternoon, there literally hundreds of geese on it. Unfortunately, they were at the far side so my 80-200 could not pull them in real close. I will see what I can do on the colors and see if that helps. When I processed it through my software, I did a contrast mask and gaussian blur so I wonder if I did the blur too much.
