    Flying Low..!

Howdy guys, new here so hope I've managed to upload the picture correctly .

This was snapped the other week when we had a hot air balloon 'crash land' right behind our house. Looked out my window, saw a hot air balloon floating right past, and with the utterance of 'Holy Sh-!' dived down the stairs with my camera to grab a snap.

Took a few, but I quite like this one. What do you reckon? Had my camera since April.. It's my first one ever, quite literally! Never taken pictures outside of using a disposable once in a blue moon so.. I'm still learning (why I'm here!). Go easy on me .

    Apologies for the long message!

    Welcome to Photography Review!

Good first post. The setting sun enhances the whole effect along with the burner! There's an immediacy also enhanced by the closeness of the balloon to the rooftops which the 'full-on' burner may indicate you weren't the only one saying Holy S***!!

The houses may of course be slightly compressed in perspective, yet that gives this the feel it imparts.

A minor amount of post processing might strengthen the photograph, but as it stands it doesn't need much beyond some minor sharpening and perhaps levels to add some extra 'pop'.

    Looking forward to more!

Cheers for the swift reply drg! Will be sure to pop the image into Photoshop and have a little play around with it. I tend to use my images straight from the camera, but I should probably tweak some of them so they look nicer.

    Thanks for the welcome!

This does not need any extra pop on my screen. Lovely light all over. Excellent shot and well caught.

Welcome to PR J!. Excellent capture here. Great lighting and excellent composition. I normally don't like cloning but, my only little nitpick is the pipe/spout coming out of the chimney on the right. I keep getting drawn to rather than the balloon. Hope to see more pics from you in future

Welcome to the forum, J. Your eye for composition must be very good to have set up the shot quickly and effectively as you have. it looks very good to me and not needing much photoshopping either.
    Looking forward to more.

Thanks Aaron / Gary! I'll have a play in Photoshop, Aaron, and see what I can do with that pipe. Just worried that it might look a little strange if there's no chimney top on the chimney haha .

I shall try it anyway, though! Won't know until I give it a go . Thanks again for the warm welcomes!

    Re: Flying Low..!

J - Welcome. I think it's a good capture. Nuts, actually. I've heard that these things have little control of where they come down cept to re-fire up the air and shoot back up into the sky! Seems that they need to put a propeller on them for horizontal adjustments.

I think its a good shot but it somehow seems lacking in dimensionality. Even the fact that there's buildings in the foreground, creating another plane, doesn't seem to totally fix a sort of flatness I see here.... Oh well, can't please everyone. Still very good though.

Well done. The picture is good all the way around. You even caught the flame shooting hot air into the ballon. Super capture.....
