    flying horse ;)

Well, here I tried to take a pic of my horse....
Personally, I really hate the background... it kind of destroys the picture... but I like the posture of the horse!

    I would appriciate some comments
Any Ideas how I could make it a bit better?

Another equine photographer! :0) One of my favorite subjects.

I think that the sense of motion isn't really conveyed here. If you pulled back and had the legs, I think we'd be able to tell that he's moving, but in this shot its hard to tell. The mane's blowing but it really doesn't convey motion to me.

I don't know what kind of camera you work with, but changing the depth of field would help you with the background and make him stand out a bit more.

Beautiful horse! Hard to tell what he is from this picture. I'm thinking Arab or Quarter Horse?

I can understand why you hate the background here, we can see it all in such detail! I think the problem here is that the focus is concentrated behind the horse instead of on his eyes. Luckily he's yours so opportunity abounds! If you want to catch him in motion experiment with panning the shot (keeping pace with the horse as it moves around the ring with your lens) or turn on your on camera flash [even though it's daytime] to really freeze the motion. Sometimes the auto focus is responsible for these kind of background focus shots because it can't compensate fast enough for the object coming at it. In this case I would use an aperture of F11 or higher with compensating shutter speed and try to get as much depth of field as possible so that at least EVERYTHING is in focus, you can always fuzz out the background in Photoshop (or comparable) later. Or if you're shooting full auto try setting your camera to the sports/action and let the camera try to figure it all out. Welcome to the PR boards!
