    flying color

I'm fairly happy with this shot taken at one of the booths at Folklife. I've done nothing except resize. It probably needs some crop and those tags cloned but wanted opinion from better eyes than mine before I tackle it.

Woooah. A lot of color here! It's OK but I think it might have been more effective if there was only one of the two hanging thingies in the foreground. Seems a little busy overall, but having two of them there is tense. Try a crop and see what ya get!

Thanks, GB! I was wishing there were 3 and hadn't thought about one.
I think I'll crop to the rhino, make it portrait, and do a horizontal flip.

    Is this better?

    Re: flying color

I think it is, though the rhino does disappear into the background a little. It does seem sharp enough here.

Someone in interior design told me that odd numbers work and even ones don't. As everything, no rule is absolute. But I think that an even number might create tension.

    Frog,

I think your DOF works to isolate the rhino, but I might be inclined to burn and dodge a little to highlight it more. The background seems lighter than your subject which tends to distract somewhat. I'm also curious to see what it would look like with the string cloned out
