Well, just when you think you know somebody's style - they go and change it up! Didn't expect this from you. Your lighting on these flowers are much improved over the others, but the composition is off - but I can't tell you why. I think because the flowers are all lined up in a row and it feels cramped at the top. Valentine flowers for your sweetie? I bet Lori was very happy with them!

Thanks for the comments Paula. Yeah, I really don't want to be a guy who just photographs wierdness. I like to make things that are just as beautiful as possible too. I actually had more headroom in the shot. I cropped it short, because I kind of wanted the cramping. But that color above them is nice. If I have time I may add some back in to see how it feels. Probably more Valentiny I bet.
I'm not a flower expert, but I like the colors and tonal range here. The center orange-tinted flower takes center stage and is fitting. I think the shallow DOF is a good idea here, but perhaps goes a bit too far as things really start fading out quickly. I also wish the leaves on the far right were all within the frame. This one can be played w/ more. The thick border was a good choice imo.

I need to get some textbooks out as I am just getting back in to this, but if there was/is a way to get better focus on the front row of flowers(or all of them) I would have liked to see that. Is that accomplished by a combination higher f-stop for depth of field, being closer and locking in focus a little past the front?(That's why I need to do some studying)
You may have intended on doing it exactly how it is. I like the framing/cropping of it.
PS: I just realized we have had guns from you, and we now have roses. How 'bout guns n' roses next?
