The background slices and dices the centre of interest into pieces and lighting and tones need to be much better for a black and white.

Good, but move the plant to the right enough to have the mirror go completely through the frame, edge of mirror on the left takes away IMO. Good exposure/lighting, I like how the trim and mirror frame section the picture.

    Re: Flowers

Tuna, your compositions and framing go beyond the ability of any book or reference manual to explain.I like the deep contrast here, as with alot of your b&w images. The flowered wall paper trim behind the subject gives me a feel that this subject is in the "right" place, or home. The hint of lighting at the base of the vase is a treat. As Mr Yuck stated, the trim and mirror lines section the image nicely, in part due to the heavy contrasts. I see his issue with the mirror being through the frame, and perhaps it would work that way as well, but this does not hurt it for me. A classy, elegant shot truly in the genre of fine art.

    Tuna,

I have always enjoyed your work and how intentional each piece is. My only thought is to crop the bottom to the base of the table. I don’t think that part adds to the overall image and wonder if it would emphases the flowers more. I also like the contrast between horizontal and vertical lines. As mentioned the wallpaper mimicking the actual thing or visa versa is well done.

    Regards,

    Phil
