    Re: flowering

The little flower is a nice subject. I think you have included too much extraneous stuff which does not really add but is rather heavy weight loading the image down. Especially the second one where the leaf is extremly large relative to the flower and then there is massive dark area underneath it. I think you would need to isolate the flower better or use a more simple bg area that would be mainly of colors to backdrop and set off the little flower.

    Re: flowering

I like the first one well enough, the overall tone is nice and the flower is nicely balanced in the frame by the blade of grass on the right side of the frame. I just wish the light stone directly behind the flower was larger so that the flower was completly framed by the stone.

The dark area under the leaf in the second image is just too big a part of the image and completly dominated the flower. If the flower is going to be the object of interest in this image go fro a square format by cropping from the left to remove most of the darkness.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Re: flowering

There's a lot happening in the image. Not sure this is ideal for flower shots, but what do I know? I never do flower shots. The contrast of the flower against the big leaf and hard rock is interesting unto itself. Not sure the blurry foreground works. A lot of contrast here, which is normally good, but I can't make up my mind if it's a plus or minus here. It's just a confusing scene! I like the top one the best by the way.

    Re: flowering

I agree with everyone here. Flower shots should be as close to the flower as possible. Interesting flower shots show some of the detail inside the flower and show off the flower colors for maximum effect. I have seen some interesting flower shots in B/W though.
