    Flower Power

I'm really trying to better my technique with depth of field so I tried this shot. It's not a very profound picture in itself...but any suggestions on how I can sharpen the flowers a little bit while leaving the background blurred?

The lower the F/# - the tighter your plane of focus will be. When you get into lenses that have f/ stops between 1 and 2 you can end up with everything blurred but the faces of the flowers. Dedicated macro lenses will also do this.

I don't know what lens you are using, but it looks fairly wide. Beyond what Jet told you, with any lens, the closer you get to your subject the more the background will blur. To get closer in this shot, try using just one or two flowers and phisically move closer. Please post the results of that too.
