    Re: Fixing her hair

Ben, great idea for a shot, especially a candid one. I like that she seems to be chatting with someone while she's doing a quick hair fix. My only suggestion, if you have another opportunity like this one, would be to actually include a smidge more of the back of her hair and/or comb, so that it's more obvious WITHOUT the title that she's combing/fixing her hair. That's just my own personal opinion though...
Like I said, I love the idea behind this.

I agree with Emily, a little more hair and a not as tight crop would work great IMO. Great eye to find a shot like this and good execution. Colors are great and I love the reflection in the sunglasses.

    Great shot,

    Re: Fixing her hair

Great idea Ben but it is not working for me. The mirror tells me she is admiring her cool shades. The only way to overcome this was as Emily said, get the comb and hair into the mirror. Probably easier said than done .

The comb is partially in the picture, and very out of focus. maybe either bring the comb into focus, or lose it altogether.

Not very helpful I am afraid...

    Re: Fixing her hair

I like as it is or but maybe a bit less on the left. If the comb wasn't there then it would just be another person posing for a reflection shot. If the comb was in the mirror then it's another woman combing her hair shot. This shot is unique and the comb puts everything in perspective in a different way. Candid shots can't meet all the accepted criteria IMO.

(unless your a high paid photo journalist where even candid has to be perfect)

    I like the shot.

    Ben,

Fine by me, the title wasn't even required to figure this out.

    However a couple of things.

    1. the white table edge is very bright at the bottom right and could do with a bit of burning in.

    2. the picture seems to give the impression of a hollow eyed person thanks to the sunglasses. This is due to the reflections.

However I like it and the DOF is perfect for me.

Yeah, if I ever get another opportunity as such, I'll be sure to keep your comments in mind!

    Thanks,
