Here is another shot from last week end with the 17-35mm nikkor lense.
It's dark but I am naturally drawn to it. How do you guys feel about this one?

I like night shots, but for me, there is not enough going on with the lights to justify all the black space, and it's a touch fuzzy and tilted. I'd maybe try some different angles. Also, I've read that the best itme for night shots isn't really night - it's early dusk. My own experiments would seem to back this up - you get th "night" effect, but a little extra ligt.

Maybe trying from some different angles also could work .

I had a course on night photography earlier this year and it's a fact that there is a 20min time lap (moreover) arround dusk were one can achieve great results. I like to shoot all night long anyway but I think that this particular shot should have been made earlier since there is very little artificial lighting in that area.

I had difficulty to find an angle. I wanted to capture both the luminous sign and it's reflection in the water and I would usually end up with trees or unwanted stuff blocking my view. Anyway, I will eventually reedit the shot, perhaps facing the main building in a more straightforward way.

I thinkyour photo would definately have appeal if it wasn't for the black space on the left. Try cropping it just to the left of the "five roses" building and see how you like it. I like all the shapes and reflections going on. Yes, it's a bit sharper than it would be at dusk, but this type of look has its merits too. I'd like to be sitting across from that view, it has that kind of magical feeling to me.
