    fishing buddies in B&W

    not the biggest fan of black and white but was tinkering with a early morning fishing scene,where the sun was reflecting off the wet line being cast out.shot is cropped for effect,comments welcome,how to improve on this shot,thanks.

    I like the composition pretty good but would crop some from the left to get the boat further away from center.
    The main problem is it is just too dark and your subjects blend in with everything else.

    how about this edit,better or just stay away from black and white altogether?

    I like your second edit much better but DON'T stay away from b/w...sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. There is something catching light in front of the stern fisherman's shoulder/head that could be edited out.
    Somebody might give you better advice than I could on conveting this one to b/w.

    The second version is better because the first has too much contrast. Interestingshot. I love the back lighting and the woerd Manitoba prairie lake setting.

    My initial reaction was how neat it was to catch the light on the line that way.

    When I thought about what my eye was doing, I realized that the line carries the eye out of rather than into the frame.

    I like the second edit better than the first for reason stated by Don.

    Nice picture, the second for me also.

    Furthermore if you don’t mind me suggesting, why not crop a bit of the top so that the fishing line is coming off the frame spot on in the top right corner.
