    Fishing

    I took this photo today with a D70 and 75-300 Nikkor on a tripod about 15 feet away set at ISO 200, 1/160 and g/5.6. Does the blown highlight ruin it?

    the bright light is very distracting, but i still LOVE the picture.

    I wouldn't say that the photo is ruined. You could still save it with some manual retouching in the right places.

    I'm no graphic artist or anything, and granted this is only after 5 - 10 minutes of work, but I opened up your photo in G.I.M.P. and did a few touch-ups.



    As you can see, it wouldn't be too hard to reduce the over exposed portions by adding a bit of texture to help improve the overall photo. It would just take some time and patience.

    That is quite the picture, though!
    No pixels were harmed during the taking of these pictures...
