    Fish Out Of Water

I took a walk along the water front in downtown San Diego this past weekend. There is public art along the way. So, I gave it that nautical theme.

Not bad, CF. I think the three fish are strong but the others behind it as well a the masts and rigging of the ships in the bg in strong focus is making this scene busier than it should be.

    CF,

I have to agree with Gary - my inital impression when I saw this is there is too much DOF which makes it look busy.

I like the lighting on the fish and their placement in the photo.

    Re: Fish Out Of Water

Since finding this sight, I've come to learn what I like about photos and I'm finding that I happen to like shots that others find too busy as long as there's a strong subject.
The only thing I might like to see is a somewhat wider view...still in vertical format but pulled back.

    Gary, Roger, Frog, Brent:

Thanks so much to you all for taking the time to comment. That is what this forum is all about. When I took the shot I considered how the DOF should be presented and the overall image. I decided to make the bg abit more in focus vs. more obscured. However, I sure understand what you are saying and appreciate the versatility less DOF would bring to the shot.

    Thanks again.
