Fish Chowder

Another terrible shot of a fish-die at the Salton Sea. These carcasses were sitting in a small inlet of white, milky-looking water... I have no idea what it was (and didn't want to get too close to find out), but it reminded me of clam chowder (yuuck).

Looks like they are lying in ice, doesn't it.
I'm thinking it might look a little better rotated to horizontal. Not sure if the sticks should be on bottom or top if you do though.
I do think the photo shows what you are trying to get across with the mass fish kill.
What kind of fish are they?

Frog - thanks and you're right, looks like ICE! I didnt know what it looked like, hence the chowder title... I wonder if I could have fooled someone into thinking ice. Hmmm.

They're tilapia. Supposedly their a delicious fish (not sure I've ever had one), but after this exp not sure I'm in a rush to find out.

Here's the rotation you suggested. Looks slightly better with the sticks on the top, i think..

Curious what brought on the mass die off? Drought? Chemicals? Do tell.

Just another day at the Salton Sea.......

Thanks for commenting. I wish I could do panos with my film camera... VERY difficult, cause not only do you need to deal with the exposure issues but when you scan the slides, each can lie in the holder at very slightly different angles, adding major complications when combining them. Unless you have tons of time, prob ain't worth it till I get a digital SLR.

No flowers, but a lot of other interesting stuff

Not sure about the reasons for the fish die. Someone at a store told me there was an algae bloom and that depleted the water of oxygen, and tilapia are very sensitive. They say it happens a lot in August -- check out this story! http://www.sci.sdsu.edu/salton/SaltonSea7.6MilFish.html
