    first title

hello everyone. I just joined this board today and thought i would share the first photo i took with my first digital slr (D50).....I've always been a cauls photographer but haven't been able to afford film and developing for about the past 2 years...but now I've saved and bought a new camera to take with me while moving across the country.I'm going to be stopping as some of the national parks as well so anyway, I'm just glad to be back into it and wantedto share the first shot on the new camera. thanks.

Beautiful, the white thing in the upper left corner is a tad distracting but other then that, I love the feel of this photograph. Well done!

I agree about the hot spot in the top left but other than that, a very interesting picture. The whole sepia-like tones work for me, though I wish the angle was a little more head on.

Other than that, welcome to the boards and enjoy your stay.

yeah...actually the hotspot is driving me nuts too...and i don't have a decent program to touch it up..also about the head on thing..it was very windy out when i took it so i was kinda surprised it looked as good as it did....but thanks for the comments...i hope to share some more pics and be useful in commenting on others as well....perhaps later I'll go back out and retake this shot...without the hotspot....cause it really is making me crazy...but notbad for my first shot with the camera...I'm still learning to use all the functions because my previous camera was a stripped down minolta from the 70's...I can be pretty critical of myself even though i just do this for fun

This is a beautiful rose. I like that color doesn't distract from the beautiful form.

I haven't seen the expression "caul photographer" before and a google search doesn't do much to enlighten. Does that mean you like 'darker' subjects?

With that nice camera you'll be wanting photo editing capabilities. While Photoshop is my first recommendation, PaintShop Pro and PS Elements are more affordable alternatives that can handle most of a photographers needs.

If you want that bright spot burned in some I'd be happy to do that for you.
