    First sunset pictures

I'm learning how to use my Canon EOS Rebel XTI and shot these three sunset pictures this past week on the Washington coast. Each shot is from roughly the same spot on the beach and probably within 5 minutes of each other. I'm curious what people think. Is lens flare a bad thing (that's what I'm calling the round spot in middle photo? Please help me to improve these if possible. Thanks.

    Re: First sunset pictures

I'm not sure how to make sure the photos are imbedded as opposed to a link. In composing my post I clicked on the insert photo icon and pasted the URL for the photos, which are in My Gallery on this site. How do I insert them as oppsed to a link showing up? The instructions for using the site aren't clear to me. Thank you for helping me if you can.

    Re: First sunset pictures

Lens flare is bad if you don't want it. The spot in the second can easily be cloned out but I don't think it distracts.
I think your third is best but that's personal taste. I like that the bird silhouettes show best in it.
Freehand or tripod? I'm just wondering if the birds might have shown better from a lower perspective.
Poulsbo, eh. Grew up across the bay on Virginia Point in 50s and 60s. Go Vikings!

    Re: First sunset pictures

    Frog,

Freehand shot with Canon EF 70-300 IS lens. I've got a really cheap, shorter, lightweight tripod at home that I never remember to bring with me (probably because I don't like it at all, very cheap!). I'm going to invest in a quality tripod so I can take better landscape pictures in lower light conditions.
