Hope that loads.
I would appreciate comments.

Eeep! They're scary looking critters. Loads of detail, but the image is a bit grainy. Perhaps that's down to you compressing the original.
Aside from the fact it scares me, I like the picture. Nice job :)
Re: First Post :) Praying Mantis Photograph...comments?
Yes I agree. I wasn't sure how to make it less grainy. This was the first time I have really taken a true macro shot.
It is slightly out of focus as well...I believe. Close though :) I am excited about learning how to use this camera.
Re: First Post :) Praying Mantis Photograph...comments?
My first thought was that it was out of focus. My second thought was maybe it's just really soft - resizing can do that.
Great composition!
What gear did you use?

The camera was the Canon EOS-1D
The lens was the 2EF24-70mm F2.8L USM
I use manuel focus...turned the auto off because it wasn't doing a very good job.
I was just playing around with the camera (trying to learn more about it) when I took those shots. Trying to get it focused was the hardest part.
I love to take macro-pics. I just ordered a new macro lens. Can't wait to try it out. I also love weather photography. Lot to learn though...lots!
Here is another couple of photos that I took.

Interesting shots and I am especially impressed considering what lens you used to get them as I never thought of the 24-70 as much of a macro lens. I have been seeing a lot of praying mantises around lately but it seems like I only see them when I don’t have a macro lens handy and on windy days LOL. The first shot does look a little OOF but hey, you weren’t even using a macro lens and it is a cool shot all the same. Keep up the good work.

I am probably committing a deadly sin by downloading and adjusting another members image, if so please forgive a newbie.( Member not photog). The critter images are fine given the lens used, however the creek shot is a bit gloomy and lacks depth of field. Perhaps a tripod and a smaller f stop. I gave it a tweak in curves for you to compare

Now that praying mantis shot is definitely better. Looks like you were right at the edge of the lens focusing ability.
Thanks for the information on your gear. Sweet camera/lens combo. By all means wring that sucker out and learn how to use it to it's full potential.
Re: First Post :) Praying Mantis Photograph...comments?
well, for some reason all of your pictures are realy grainy, but nice job on the praying mantis, but it can be better if there is less grain, keep up the good work

That is fine :) I am actually glad you showed me some comparison there.
I liked the dull look just because it looked kinda swampy. BUT I like how you brought more depth to the photo.
kewl kewl :)
