    first post...

hi all, this is my first post, so i will staert by saying hello to everyone...

    HELLO!

I have recently become very interested in digital photography, i recently brought my first d-slr, an olympus E-510 with the twin lens kit and have been reading just about every magazine i can find for tips and advice, i found this website and think its great i have been reading other peoples posts the last few days and i have pulled quite a bit of information so far.

now i just thought i would add my first photo to be picked apart and hope to get some constructive advice..

this photo was taken with my compact lumix tz-3 i dont remember what settings were used but i really like the sunset breaking though the clouds and needed to take a snap of it, the photo was taken at a look out point on the great ocean road near port campbell. i croped, adjusted the curves and added a warming filter in photoshop elements.

ill add a befor and after, please feel free to edit either and give me as much feedback as possible.

    thanks,

    Craig

    p.s

what is the best method to reduce the file size to upload images to the internet? with these i saved for web in photoshop, and reduced the width to 800 pixels, is that a good way to go about it?

Welcome to the forums! and both are beautiful shots, although I believe theres too much dead space at the top of the second photo. if you crop it a little bit above the golden opening in the clouds it will be a much stronger photo

thank you for the reply, the top picture is the edited version of the bottom picture, i had already made a tighter crop to get rid of the "dead" part of the photo, so i guess i am on the right parth .

    any other advice is welcome.

I think the croped one is the correct one, but I like the color on the uncroped one better. To me it gives it more power.
