First post since last August and my near drowning experience in Kona. Lost the camera in the process but have a new XTi, and this is my first post with the new camera. Yeah, the back ground is distracting, just wanted to get back on the saddle.

It's great to have you on board again. Wow! you had a near-drowning experience - I'm really happy that you're okay.......and back again.

Your photo is beautiful. Great color. BTW, I also have a new XTi and love it. I posted some images on the VF forum - 24-hour thread.

I hope you'll stick around - and post more images from your new camera.

Thanks for the comments and the "welcome back". Swept under by a wave while shooting photos in Kona. Turned my back on the ocean and she bit me. I was tossed around the lava for a while, tried to keep the camera from getting wet but no such luck. It was a goner.

Thanks for the kind words. Glad to be back and will post more as I get out in the safety of San Diego.

Now if the Padres and Chargers would only cooperate.

Thanks very much. I was just shooting for the sake of hearing the new shutter release, getting the feel of the new camera, getting my settings on the menus,etc. This is image 5 of the new XTi.

I didn't notice the part of your post earlier about the drowning experience. I'm am glad you are ok as well. Be careful.

Thanks, Greg. Yeah, that was a real experience. Taken off the lava shore line by a wave and rolled along the lava for ways, all under water. All the while I am trying to save my camera from getting wet. Pretty stupid considering I was already submerged. I am fortunate to have come out of it with nothing more than scraps. It looked much worse than it was. Camera was a complete loss but Compact Flash card was intact and the 500+ photos I had taken were all preserved. Great product!

I am back on solid ground. Literally with a new camera. Took a couple months but I am back.

I had the undertow take me under a couple of times when I was a kid. Nothing like that to teach you the important things in life. The lifeguard and my dad reached me about the same time...

Very interesting shot CF. The first thing I said was wow. Seems like a reflection in the middle of the air. The background brightness doesnt bother me. Of course, you could mask it and reduce the intensity in PS or whatever to see what it might look like w/ softer shades.

I think there is an article in today's Currents Section. Each artist has a "booth" to show off the art piece. Showing is in Embarcadero Park North, downtown; $12 or two for one with a coupon from 7-11. Times are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sat/Sun.

I might check it out. Sounds like a good photo op.
