First Drift Event taking pictures. These are from the night portion. I have never tried shooting a Drift event. Any critiques and advice is appreciated.

Two and four are really nice shots that define your subject of drifting.

Re: First Drift Event- Night Set

#2 is the best shot of the set for sure. Shooting at night presents it's own problems as I am sure you already know but since you are forced into slower shutter speeds than normal by the darkness it lends itself to some very nice opportunities. You have done well with the panning. A little more practice and your shots will get smoother and cleaner with the motion and make the subject pop off the blurred background.

I shoot probably 5000 panning shots in a season and at the begining of each season I have to practice it over and over again to perfect the technique. What I try to do is place the AF point on one spot on the car and hold it there as i follow the car. don't forget to follow through just like a golf swing... it really helps smooth things out in the end. You have an excellent foundation to build on from here. Nice work.

Re: First Drift Event- Night Set

Thanks! I appreciate the comments and advice.

@jaedon - I am hoping to go to another event this weekend. I am hoping to have a new lens. I am aiming for lens that will allow me to get a better DOF. I am sure that will help.
