Talking First attempt at studio shots!

Ok, I've finally tried it! this "studio" is basically me finding things around the house and forming a studio i took this with a lamp pointed at the broken glass (i didn't brake it just for the picture, it broke, and when life gives you lemons... take pictures of them!) and i put a semi-transparent red binder divider in front of it as a filter....
    hope you like!

I like the picture. But maybe a tad lighter. I couldn't really tell what I was looking at until I read. Could be my monitor though too.

I think it's pretty good. looks like the end of a rowdy night or something. Nice improvising with the red wash.

Well, I'm not sure I see the advantage of the red filter here. If it were a disco, maybe. The glass is OK but I think a straight top-down angle, or a side-angle, would work better because this one seems too much of the 'normal camera angle', meaning this is what we see all the time. I DO like how the light is shining off of the bottom of the broken glass. The foreground sharpness is good but I view it (the wall corner) fading out in the background more of a mistake. Finally, not sure about how the liquid is running out of the scene - it seems clipped off, or cramped. So there are some good things are happening here, but some room for improvements. Try recreating the ads you see in magazines - I'm not really into this sort of photography (yet!) I am betting that it isn't that hard to do!

In the back you can see the corner where it goes from the counter to the wall. I would move it forward a little to eliminate that.

Not bad at all for a first attempt and a nice job of making do with what you had around the house.

As far as the image goes to me it is a bit too dark overall and I think it would be better with slightly more light on the edges.
    No, I DON'T need that.

Come to think of it, maybe the red is supposed create the feeling that it is in a Disco or bar..

Re: First attempt at studio shots!

Thank you for all the feedback!
Shooter: thanks that's was what I was going for (GB1 - a bar).
GB1- thank you for the advise I'll take that into consideration next time.
East side and MB1: I see what you mean, but I was kinda going for the dark mysterious kinda thing but maybe next time I'll use another lamp (Let's hope I can find one!).
and Chilipepper: I see the corner but I didn't quite understand the solution you gave.

Move it away from the corner so the reflection is only the table.
