    Welcome to Photography Review!

You have a nice set of pictures for your first with the camera...

I especially like the last two, the shadows in the third and the simple composition with the negative space the snow creates really makes a nice image. The only thing I'd say was wrong with it is the upper left hand corner is a little blown out(bright). Maybe try to burn it in a little with Photoshop?

Well done, I'll be interested to see what else you come up with with your new toy.

The one that stands out is # 3. Here, you've successfully identified a subject and somewhat isolated him (her?) against the background by using a shallow DOF. You have also nicely placed the bird at an inflection point using thirds. The house behind him is still there, but not very distracting because of the blur.

The others (except for the second from the top) seem to suffer a bit from lack of a strong subject. # 2 has one, but the background is not attractive and lacks interest. Perhaps zooming him when he's eating something, etc would help.

    Welcome to the boards btw!
