    First attempt at Macro

This is my first stab at Macro. All natural light with reflector. Constructive criticism welcome.

    Thanks

    Re: First attempt at Macro

Welcome to the forum. These are not bad. I like that you filled the frame with the flowers for impact. the lighting on the second image I feel is better and enhances the overall photo. The lighting is spread out evenly and soft and both flowers stand out nicely. the first image looks ok but the lighting got a little bright on the edge of the bottom flower and a bit too flat and dull on the second one behind. I also like the positioning and framing of the second image. It would help to place a thin border around the image so we can see the outline of the frame since the bg is white.
This is good stuff and good use of the reflector.

    Re: First attempt at Macro

Dx - First of all, welcome to the PR forums. There's a lot of great artists and photographers who are willing to provide suggestions and observations. I also encourage you to check out the other forum categories, there's a lot of good stuff happening in those too.

I think this is a decent shoot of the flowers. I personally like the white background over the black in this situation, though both have merit. The lighting seems softer in the white one, making the flowers seem better adjusted to their surroundings. I am not sure about the clipping - in one way that is breaking a rule or two, but in other ways I think it looks good in this particular situation (not sure why).

Anyway - hope to see more of your shots in the future. Your macro's sharpness is impressive btw
