    Fireworks at the Mall

Just took these last night in Washington DC. I found it very difficult to get a good angle. What do you think of what I got here? Really wanted the reflecting pool, but it just wasn't available Also took a few shots with the Wash. monument, but the angle just stunk. The flags seemed to be the best -

Second row right, I like how you framed the flags and fence. It looks like a pretty good wind blowing which adds to the shot.

    GB~

#2 & #4 speak to me the most. I like your framing and the sizzle of the fireworks in the background. I was in Fairfax City at a party close by to their fireworks but didn't even take out the camera. Oh well, there's always next year.

    GB,

They all have a very nice quality to them. I love the action in the flags. Good shots, all.

Number 2 & 4 are excellent in the way that in #2 the flag seems to be bursting apart in an energy storm or explosion, like something out of Doctor Who.

    I like them all.

I like them. the first one is cool with that semicircle of flags.

our fireworks were cancelled due to rain and then uncancelled in the same night so we went home in between and then looked outside and saw them going off. terrible call on their part. needless to say I didnt get to take any shots. lame.

I think I'll vote for #2 also. Like the people element.
The only one I don't care for is #3 and probably because the others are so much better.

    Re: Fireworks at the Mall

Hey THKS everyone! Looks like 2 and 4 are the favorites. I feel sort of like a "un-patriot" here cause the flag seems like it's getting blown up -- like a 'What If' the British shells hit the flag in the war of 1812? Boooo. Would our national anthem be the same that is? (probably not)

Rick, Jimmy, CL, Roger, Frog - I guess this is sorta a 'micro study' of the 4th of July fireworks. I didnt include the traditional DC landmarks. I knew I couldn't capture the whole scene very well, so, focused on the flags instead. Glad you found that it was a decent decision. Next time, but prob not next year, maybe with the capitol in the background.

CL -- no fireworks? bad girl :cryin:

afdlips -- Sent everyone home, then changed their mind eh. that really sucks. Like you said, a really poor decision on their part Well, just plan out next year's fireworks. 362 days to go.

Frog - # 3 is prob the weakest (but Jimmy doesn't think so ) but I thought the flags were neat. The works are too dim there though. Seaworld here has works every night in the summer (i think), so maybe I can practice with a graduated ND filter to try evening the exp out.
