    Fire in Nobody Cares Land

Brush fire lit up the sky last night. I ran out (it was around freezing) with my 55-200 mm lens and my new speedlight mounted.

Looks too close for comfort to me. Wasn't that ground covered with snow a couple weeks ago?

Yes it was. Actually, I was quite far from the fire. The 55-200 mm lens really worked here. The Speedlight gave me some framing from the grass in the foreground.

Not bad. Did you set the fire to try out your new camera at night (not that I care!)?

The last image has a bit too much foreground, the middle one not quite enough and the first is just right!
    No, I DON'T need that.

I like the first image the most, personally; the trees seem in focus despite the fire behind them which gives them great detail against the bright background!

    Thanks MB and Dog.

I think the fire was deliberately set to clear oyut an area of reeds behind the trees. The fire blackened area seemed almost perfectly contained in a rectangular area just where the reeds were.
