    Field ...

After getting up before 6am to go get some sunrise shots, on the my way back saw this field of Agave - cactus used to make Tequila - I have always wanted a shot of the agaves, and this looked nice, the mountain in the back is called "Cerro de Tequila",

Tequila is actually a town at the bottom of that mountain.

What do you think of the shot ?

It is a pretty nice image; well composed, lit and focused.

I think the title should be "Agave Field" or "Tequila Field."

I bet it was fantastic there as the sun was rising.
    No, I DON'T need that.

I think this is a nice, well balanced composition with a lot of appeal. The light colors make it appear as a pastel drawing, which I assume may have been assisted through a little HDR. If so, it might be too much if your intention was to keep it looking real, but it isn't too overdone. I wish the electrical towers weren't there, but that would be a lot of cloning to eliminate them. Good detail overall.

Wow!, excellent shot. You have so many elements that are working for this shot. Great composition with a very nice sky. Love the muted colors, yet natural, colors of the upper third. Beautiful shot.

PS, I like the towers, they look like figures of a sort, without imposing.

interesting, no complains about the crazy orange dry grass ...

    thanks for the comments

the white balance was very blue on the sky/clouds, so... I set a gray point on one of the clouds, but that changed dramatically the bluegreen tone of the agaves (which was captured correctly) , I masked off the mountain and agaves, but left the intense orange color on the dry grass

a bit of tonemapping on the greens

here is another shot, same location , more sky, similar post processing

Armando, I really like the first shot. I think the composition is very good, and the soft morning light is well suited for the image. I think if you waited another 30 minutes, it would all look very different. I actually also really like the brown grass, as I think it compliments the other colors and provides a visual weight to the photo - which is perhaps missing in the 2nd shot. Cloning the electrical wires may be beneficial. I would also crop away the little tiny house on the right side of the first image. Nice.

Hey, is that a painted mural background? It looks like that

I like both versions, though somehow cropping off the brown dirt area (as in the bottom image) creates a cleaner shot, so I like the 2nd post better in that respect.

On the 2nd, it looks like you may have some lens distortion, as the horizon seems to pincushion on you a little. But not sure if that's simple the way the land was. This one is potentially a portfolio shot, but I might consider selecting the foreground agave and lighting up the shadows in there a bit, just to take a little edge off the contrast, which (IMO) makes it seem a little scary.

    Nice eye,

Thanks llewpics, I was thinking a more square crop, in the process eliminate the house

Greg, Yes there is lens distortion which I forgot to correct
they are menacing indeed, the lightest touch and the thorns go through anything but thick leather
    Thanks !

These were shot with the nex5n and the kit lens
