a few pics...help please?

here are a few pics, one is my nephew being baptized, and the other is a black lab puppy... i am just gussing, but i assume that you can fiqure out which is which.

The puppy shot has great focus on the eyes, but the blown out area just to the left needs to be corrected. As for the baptism shot, in spite of the good focus on the baby's eyes, the rest of the shot appears to be out of focus. What was your shutter speed on that?

what do u mean corrected? like burn it out? darken it? and for the baby i dont remember what speed b/c i switched it up alot trying different things, VERY weird lighting there, the inside of the church was dark, which is where i was standing, and the baptisim area was very bright. and i was about 40 feet away fromt the baby. i am still learning how to properly use lighting and such with my camera, and still need to learn how to photoshop, thank you for your advice

I think you did very well on the Baptism shot. the soft focus around the subject creates a mood that i feel goes well with the scene. It is a sort of mystical appearance. . .fitting. The focus is nicely on the eyes, and overall I like the framing and composition.
The Puppy shot I feel is not framed very well. The negative space at the left, the paws being cut off, the head cut off, just does not feel to be coming together in this. Also, looking down at the pup from a "normal" point of view is not too exciting. Good focus on the eyes, though, once again.

the puppy shot's nice, but it could definitely benefit from some PP, like almost all shots of black dogs. Mind if i play around with it?
