Something "feels" wrong in this one... i dunno... I mean compared to the first.... the first one gave off a feeling of hope....loneliness and hope (that's what i felt anyway)... it spoke...
In this image (technically.... ) it is the feeling that everything is equal.... i dunno if it makes sense to anyone, but i dont see a partciular subject..... Maybe by looking at it from the point of view of a landscape picture i would like it as much as the first... but it's just that... a picture.....
Again Roger, i am not commenting on the technical aspect of the photo, i like them both from the technical standpoint... as well as composition... I am referring to the personal effect it has on me as a viewer... i am trying to look at it from the POV of the photographically challenged (as in most anyone who is not a photographer...) it just doesn't click as the first one does...
Well, that's my own little humble opinion!

I do like the photo but felt that something was missing.
Marc, - I agree with you and that's what was bugging me, Its a picture and thats it, there is no story behind it.
Gary, - Thanks for the thumbs up. I have have ment to take a picture from this location for a long time. Finally ticked off the list. I may return and see what else is there.
Greg - thanks for letting me know. Your comments about liking this is worth adding as it tells me the photo works.
Payn - Can you elaborate why please.
Tel - The clouds where moving at a collosal speed, I was being buffeted by F7-8 winds takign these shots.
J-Dogg - This little stream I have meant to stop to take a picture of for some time. Finally got round to it
GB1 - Yes the colours are lovely, polariser help to enhance them a lot.

wow, marc basically summed up everything exactly as i was going to say it. technically, it is well done, well composed, but it does feel like the main subject is missing. This location has a lot of potential though, and that tree is really something!
Thanks for the response. I think that is exactly what I wanted to capture was the tree but there is nothing around to make it more than a picture. The power station is the best there was from the positions that I could get to and it so intrusive that it always seems to be in the view finder.
Tried from the other side but beach huts get in the way and then its only the sea.
Side on it loses that shape and the bend from the wind.

the picture is perfect in every way roger except for one thing.. boring subect matter.. i travel 500 miles to find mine i dont supose basingstoke has much to offer landscape wise..
in some ways its easier to make something out of nothing just by taking a picture of rock.. folks rarely look closely at a rock they just walk by them.. they do look at scenery quite often.. for scenery to stand out in a photograph it has to be impressive scenery..
dont get me wrong.. basingstoke probably has more to offer then lincolnshire which is what i see most of.. he he

Marc, you make an interesting observation about the feeling this image gives you. I understand what you mean, but for me, it is that very feeling of this picture looking somewhat strange that I am pleased by. As pleasant as the colors are, there is a sort of science fiction feel to this. It seems the tree and the grass is being statically pulled towrds the power plant. There is a certain mysterious appeal for me to this image.
Well...Gary....When you put it THAT way....it does seem to take a more interesting approach.... i still wouldn't see it though without such a description....
PS: Nice website

Gary,
An interesting take on the photo and glad it appeals.
I wish I could say that's what was going through my head when taking the photo.
I just liked the leaning of the tree and its shape and wanted to capture its isolation as there are no trees any where near it. However, the angles always had something in the shot and the furthest thing was the power station which allowed me to capture the shape I wanted.
As it's always been said "It's in the eye of the beholder"

Roger, I would say that most, if not all of us as photographers has looked at our photos afterwards and saw something in there that they did not see when taking it in the first place. Also, we know that others will always look at our work and see something that could be entirely different than what we saw initially. It's all good if it can work for everyone in the end.
Roger, I enjoyed having the sun beat on my face and the wind blowing through my hair
The tree is evidently shaped by the prevailing winds there but I love how the grass and stream are showing a breeze here to match. If anything is "missing", I think it is smoke coming out of the stack because it too would show the breeze and make it look alive like everything else.

Nice showing.
Loupey - your having a laugh, Breeze, it was blowing a GALE, the smoke wouldn't come out to play. Sensible smoke
Thanks for taking the time to comment.
