    Farm in Springtime

I took this while on a bike ride yesterday ...I moved until I was able to "frame" the farmhouse. This is a 3 exposure blend and a very light tone mapping job (hopefully not too much). Please critique.

    Re: Farm in Springtime

I like this a lot. You've captured some really nice detail on the trunk of the tree, which almost becomes the subject for me. The farmhouse seems a little too centered and it looks like you wouldn't lose much if you cropped off the lower grass up to the point where the base of the tree is hiding in the grass - a little below the base of the near fence post. Nice PP job on this.

    Re: Farm in Springtime

I like the effect, but agree on the grass, a bit too much of it.
A crop up and in from the lower left quarter would de center the farm house and give a bit more strength to the tree.

    Give it a few tries.

Love the image and subject matter. Framed very well. Hard to tell about the degree of tone mapping at this size and compression but almost looks like snow on the branches.
detail is great. I'm enjoying this as it is, but somehow this image has me imagining what it must have looked like in color....

    Very nice work

nice capture! You have the skills of an artist. Like the end product seems like a vintage photo.

Sweet, the color version I think is better in that there is more seperation of the elements, a greater feeling of depth and a deeper mood. Your call of course but I feel this color version is stronger.

I also like the color version much more than the b&w, the tonemaping is less noticeable, very nice image,

    Re: Farm in Springtime

wow. love it. i looked at the original, and thought, what a great image.

i wished some of the halos weren't there. then i scrolled down and saw your colour image, amazing.

you definitely can do another B&W version, if you wish, that's even more amazing. this to me is a signature type image, very awesome.

Though the colour one has a bit of the focus issues the b&w had. its still great.

Once you work that out, you will honestly have a top notch pic (or even without, it's still top notch), probably the best i've personally seen of your work ed. Awesome job.

Thanks to all ...I actually plan to go back one day and try it again ...there are several things I would like to "tweak" which can really only be done in camera ...either way - it was fun.

    Re: Farm in Springtime

Both have their merits! The black and white is very even and relaxing, though some may feel too even in density. It has a slight HDR feel to it, but I do like it as is. The color one has charming colors; the red/pink colored farm house makes the shot, but I wish it was bigger in the frame. Nice shots, both of them.

Oh and congrats on your sticky. This one is certainly worthy IMHO
