    Farm Kitten

Well, not really but she looked like it here. She is actually a house kitten of ours that we just got. She went on her first 'outing' today. I kind of just followed her around and got natural shots of her playing.......any ideas on what might make this better??

You cut off her tail !
A less distracting background might help, too.
It's going to be hard, with black fur, to use light backgrounds
Unless you photgraph her in the bath (no water) or against a white backing paper and deliberately blow the white background and go for maximum contrast.
Sunlight would give a totally different shot, showing the shades of brown in her fur (they're rarely pure black).
As would multiple flash with a backlight - imagine all that fur backlit against a darker background !
Lots of things to try ... as long as she cooperates

    Is your chow white?
A black-and-white photo springs to mind.
Particularly if the dog wants to play and the kitten is arching, hissing, spitting anti-dog.
Or if they cuddle up together as friends - the extremes of reaction would be good.
Either the cat-and-dog people expect (antagonistic) or the one people don't expect (best of friends).

I'm with Paul - however the loss of so much of the legs is a little distracting too.

Ronoco will be complaining about too many catchlights soon!!!

lol, her tail was up and just as I shot, she dropped it!
We just got her two days ago, so I will play some more with her and Chi-Ching (our chow) and see what I can get!
    Thanks for the comments!!
