He looks a bit like a soldier walking away from the field Paul. I love your streaming morning sunshine through the flag. Very nice. Now get some sleep!

Paul, what strikes me about this shot is the fact that the dust in the background gives it sort of a sepia-like tone to it. Nice effect.

    Re: Fan

    Thanks.

I was pleased with this for other reasons too.
The two fans are almost perfectly alighed to give a vanishing point on the right hand side by two lines joining their heads and feet.
The shadow of the fan on the right mid-ground leads along the same perspective towards the foreground fan.
Hints of backlight on the legs of the foreground fan.
The flag in the background echoing the flag in the foreground, again in the same perspective.
Space on the left for them to walk into.

BUT there's one thing I'm not sure about.
That pole in the background, where it's really obvious in the sky and is a vertical element that is at odds with the shadow leading lines and that perspective vanishing point.
    Should I clone it out?

Yeah Paul, I'd clone it out. I didn't notice it before, which explains why I have so much trouble with my backgrounds.

    Dude~

I think you just answered your own question. I noticed all of those things about your picture and appreciated them instantly. Now you've scribbled all over it! I just assumed that all of those lovely things you pointed out are givens to what makes this picture work so well because you have such a keen eye and and because you know we'll pick it to pieces here if it's not just so.
Yes, I think it would be fine to clone out the top of the pole. Then it will blend with the other trees in the background. But I don't think it really takes that much away from the scene as a whole, it certainly wasn't the first thing I noticed though I see it would be better without it.

    Cheers!

    Fans - edit

I decided I would do that clone.
Do you think this is better having removed that vertical element?

I like the way the dust hides the busy background but still leaves a hint of the activity
