    Family

I did some photos of family on a recent visit. I am somewhat anxious to impress, and really feel like I didnt get the great photos I was looking for. I would love to hear feed back on these photos. I did do editing on them, but wonder if any look over edited (in my desire to knock their socks off)? Thanks so much

I love the first shot! I dont think they look "over done". I like the second one but seems like something is missing. On the last one if you cropped it you came very, almost to close to the top of hs head, I would crop more off the right side of it. Nice work!

Agree with Lori ... the third could use a little crop on the right side.

I think they willl be well pleased with these.

    Re: Family

    Welcome to the forums!
My socks at least drooped a little on the first one. Its a nice composition.
The others are ok and the crop suggestion is a good one. I would crop out the window entirely and then crop a bit from left to keep the balance.
    Keep Shooting!

    Re: Family

Thanks very much for the feedback. I appreciate it very much. It always helps to have a second eye. The one of the younger man cant be cropped much different (I always crop in a 4x6 size)...but I dont mind the extreme empty space. But it is just a personal taste issue. I totally see what you mean about the older man and re-edited. And I also see the something missing in the beach photo...I think there is too much empty space because the sea/sky isnt interesting and there lacks some depth of color.

Thanks so much for the imput and would appreciate any further C&C if anyone has any thing to add.

    Re: Family

Wow, I love the first two. The expression of the woman in the first one conveys so much, and I love the simplicity of the second one. The 3rd and 4th are good shots too, don't get me wrong, the just don't evoke emotion like the first two.

    Nice work!

    Re: Family

I see why you cropped the last original pic.

The white spot above his head is way distracting.

I think your original crop was better.

    Re: Family

Great lighting and tones on all of them.

Have you used a noise filter on the first one because the skin on the lady looks overdone and blotchy on the shaded side. Other than that. I love the feel of the picture and the emotion you captured.

The others are great shots too, my favourite being number 3. It's a shame about his expression though. However, I know not everyone is comfortable in front of the camera, me included!

    Re: Family

I used a skin smoothing technique that i don't really care for, but my husband was insistent it looked great...he hates to think of his mom as old! It did bother me, it doesn't look too natural I think.

#3 was really a capture, he was talking...I think asking me what I wanted to eat for lunch. So I dont think its his camera face, but in between words? I didn't really see it in a bad way, I guess people see things differently when you know the person.

    Re: Family

actually I went back and looked and there is some blochiness to that area...I think its a skin issue, maybe a shadow...I am going to work on fixing it but not sure if there is much I can do.
