    Falling drop of water

So now I'm playing in water...LOL. Actually, I started fiddling with the faucet on my sink, and had it on "shower" mode...and tried taking pix of the water falling onto my daughter's mirror (it's framed in red). I had slowed the water down considerably for this shot...

    Re: Falling drop of water

Interesting shot. Most of the water droplets shots I have seen concentrate on a single water droplet where as you shot has some interesting stuff going on with the water surface below and it doesn't detract from the over all shot at all.

But. I think you could come up with a more interesting shot if you could introduce more colour in the water. Im not sure how you got the red in there but try adding other colours of high contrast. Vivid yellow's and greens for example. I think other people have put colour creat paper at the bottom of the water and positioned it to throw an interesting kaliedascope of colour thru the water.

Also, how close can you get to the water? Trying a shot filled with just the water droplet could be a challenge. Fun perhaps? worth a shot.

I think the shot is really good. Gives me lots of ideas. How about a shot of milk pouring onto some cereal.

Or how about a shot just as the first drop hits the water that way you would see some of the background in the reflection towards the top of the shot.

That long water drop is really cool looking i think.

Thank you Audible & Themage for looking and commenting.
Audible...you make some good suggestions. The red is from the frame of the mirror...and I was trying to find some creative color to add...but the best I had at hand in my kitchen was colored toothpicks, and it just didn't work like I wanted it to...lol. I'm enjoying this new challenge, so I'm sure I'll try, try again!
Themage...thank you also. I was thinking about the milk idea, except into coffee...and then also some other liquid...even like red wine, but I'd hate to waste milk OR wine...since I take about a million shots when I'm setting this sort of thing up...lol!

Lol - The coffee idea would be cool. I think also having similar colors for instance in the coffee shot. Have a semi-close shot of a coffee cup on a brown plate on a darker brown table. Steal somebody's coffee and you wont have to worry about wasting it heheh j/k.

Also where do you set your focus at ? The water line or farther to be ready for the splashs.

That's a great idea with the coffee...especially the similar colors. I might experiment a little with the leftover coffee I always have after my morning cup.
I usually focus about a couple inches from where the drops fall...it picks up the splash and the water drops falling as well.
