    Country road

This is from my recent trip to Michigan. Just as my wife mentioned that she wanted to stop at one of the shops, I noticed the strong backlighting on these powerlines and glass insulators that aren't that common anymore. I had a few minutes to play around with it.

In Photoshop, I did slight levels and an overall saturation adjustment. I also cropped it a little too - it was shot with a Nikon 80-200 at 200 and I planned to crop when I took the shot. I had a longer lens with but it doesn't handle flare anywhere near as well so I didn't use it. Looking for feedback on composition mainly, but any comments welcome.

    Re: Country road

This is definitely a very rythmic image ... not without remiding me of one of your previous post of a rusty fence.

The composition is very well done and the choise of the lens is well suited for this purpose. (Even though I also think that a longer lens would have allowed you to throw off the BG completely. But this would mean a 300mm at F4 or so... not that common! I - for one - do not have such gear...)

The washed out sky is disapointing. A hard edge split ND could have helped only if there were any cloud formation. In case of a blank sky, this would not have yielded anything. Also, at 200mm, you would have lost some resolution. With this type of weather, I do not think you do have any other option than come back another day and retake this shot.

But once again the important aspect of this pic is its composition. I cannot think of anything which would have made this any better.

    Cheers,

    Steph.
