    Fall Come Quick

Been busy shooting everyone else's "stuff" haven't had time to relax and take pics at my leisure. We spent some time last weekend with friends and family and snapped a few fall like pics. Here's one.

Yes, I know, you're tired of seeing kids. Well my next few are kids, ducks and leaves- sorry!

I always like pictures of children. This one is exceptional. You've frozen him in mid run but he's still waving those sticks faster than your shutter. There's no substitute for love and/or enthusiasm, this one has both. Nice shot.

Thanks, the fact that his sticks are still moving act as an interpretation of how he is, about 20 hours of the day.
I think I had the shutter at 1/500

    Hi Vdcte,

I am afraid that shrinking this image down to web size does it an injustice for a proper review... But, here goes. I like the expression and toning (good for fall). I like how your subject is brightly lit compared to the bg. However, I wish I could see his expression better along with his right arm. They blend to shadow too quickly. Did you increase the contrast in PP? If so, I'd try pulling it back some so that you can get a greater range of tones as you go from light to dark. Again, this all may just be my monitor and your print just pops nicely.

The other comment I have is to crop in some. The area on the right doesn't really add to the theme to me, and it pulls detail from your subject.
    Cheers,
    Tim

Rebekah, you really caught a great moment and i can relate to his excitement. The sepia tone works here, but as Tim stated maybe a bit too contrasty . Very good . . .looking forward to the ducks and leaves and more kid shots!

    Tim-
Thanks for the feedback. Dont think I upped contrast in the first one.

Here I cropped, changed colors and did a levels adjustment, softened a bit as well.
Overall its not very sharp, I think the lighting was on my right... it was before noon.

Yes, resized for web through Photoshop- from 1.1m to less than 150k.

Thanks for the feeback. Yes, it's contrasty but I didn't alter that the first time

Lovely shot, you're right the uncropped photo loses a lot at web res. I always find this frustrating when sharing photos! ..
