    Falcoln and Kill

Well, I walked out of my house and happened to glance down the block, and about five houses down this fella was sitting on the sidewalk eating. Ran back in and got my camera. Took about 500 pictures standing in the street by the curb as cars went by looking at me like I was insane

I think this is a peregrin falcoln, I know we have quite a few of them here in Chicago, but I could be wrong.

The last picture is a crop of the previous picture. It was a very cold grey day, so my main problem is how dull everything looks.

Digital Rebel, ISO 800, Canon ef 80-200mm lense.

These photo's would look good as a series.

There seems to be a bit of a difference in white balance from the first one to the rest.

Wow what a catch! Bird of prey alright. Looks like he's warning you off ("don't mess with my food.").The second and third ones are very very good in that they're perfectly white balanced and composed.

Long time no see Cara! This is a coopers hawk. I had one sitting in a tree in my front yard a couple weeks ago. What is it that it's eating? These are all very nice images!

    Re: Falcoln and Kill

Hi all and thanks all for your comments

Danic, your absolutely correct about the white balance, the first one was on auto white balance, the other three I had adjusted the wb to cloudy setting. I think it's a drastic improvement.

Mike, thanks for the ID! I think he'd gotten himself a pigeon. I can't quite figure what other bird around here would be white and that size. I think I've seen this bird a few times in the neighborhood perched in a tree and on a tv antenna. I've also come across a spread of brown feathers in an alley where I'm betting he got a sparrow. It was too cool to be able to get close up though

Great capture. I like that second and third...Nothing to critique other than the white balance as has been pointed out...But who has time to fiddle with all that during these hard to find captures..

I like #3. The red eye really draws me in and sends a message to any who would try to share in the squab repast.
