    The Face of Death

Continuing on the series of a fish-die they had out at the Salton Sea, this fellow met his demise and doesn't look too happy about it. I find it sort of a disturbing shot myself.

    Comments??

Kodachrome 64 film with Tamron 90mm macro lens.

    Re: The Face of Death

so peaceful, serene...I can almost smell it.

    Great macro shot, great composition.

I like how you've included the fish lips in focus and the rest out of focus. I really dont see any way to improve this shot. This is one of my favorites of the day, or, month.

If I saw that on a greeting card, I would buy it.

Very disturbing...I like it! The select focus works well.Or is this a tight DOF.Anyway you look at it...Very creative, a powerful mood / statement. By the way...What are you trying to say? hehehe.
    Nice work.

    Re: The Face of Death

starriderrick, I purposedly went with the smaller DOF though macros already have a very narrow DOF (much like telephotos). He seems to be saying "Kiss me!".. ha ha

Mr Yuck, you're sick! I think that would be a halarious postcard. Maybe I should try it? Any idea where to do? Btw I can still smell that place when I look at the pix ... absolutely disgusting. Had to camp out all night by it, too.

    sigged.

It would be worth a try just for fun, maybe take some 4x6 prints to a local giftstore or bookstore. Or you could make your own greeting card or postcard to send to friends.

It's awesome that you can take such great shots under adverse conditions :P

I have to admit to that it is the best photo of a dead rotting fish that I have ever seen in this forum and a perfect place for sharing it.

I agree, this is POD, or Week or something. When a photo can draw up so much emotion, as this one has, it is special. I can't look at this, my skin crawls.

    Congrats on a great photo.

    I think.

    Re: The Face of Death

Mr Yuck, Trog, Ronnoco, and CF, I thank for your comments. It is definitely a disturbing photo, but as they say death is part of life. Trog and Ronnoco, not every picture on the forum has to be a bright, beautiful sunset... I guess places like the Salton Sea, where everything seems wrong, makes you appreciate the more vibrant locations and photographs.

I sort of felt like a war photographer here, climbing over the dead... At least I wasn't one of them.
