    An experiment

This image is a few years old, but I played around with it today. What do you think of this?

Looks like you created a dupe layer and set it to "difference" and then erased some of the effect off the tractor? The halos around the subject and even grass area underneath are not looking right in this. I dunno, i'm all for editing and experimenting but this case does not come across. It looks like it was a very interesting image prior to the editing.

    Re: An experiment

Thanks for the comments Gary. You are pretty close with your guess on the PP work. To get the look, I first created a duplicate image, and then ran an action I set up for the Orton effect. Then I pasted the orton image on top of the original, turned down the opacity a bit, and changed the blending mode to difference. I didn't do any erasing or masking.

It's not something I was too serious about, just playing around.

Here is the original, which I prefer to the experiment.

I like the original better frankly. It looks like it's a little tilted though.

Ahh, yes Mike. I thought I recognized this. You had posted this once a while back and I liked it. It is a good photo especially with the bird on the tractor. If you wanted to do anything to this, I would just select the sky and throw something a little more dramtic i. there. Nothing too much, just to fill the blank white sky.
This also might look great with a retro, nostalgic look. Go to Hue/saturation, then select colorize. Set the hue at about 38 and reduce sat to about 15-20 should give an interesting feel.
thanks for putting up the original
