    Re: Exit to nowhere

    Seb,

Humor me with an alternate title suggestion, "A View From Within - Peace Out." He, He, He. Sorry, It has very reminiscent elements of Gary's series though. I like this but wish I could see more of the interior details. Not sure if it's compression or DARK shadows or both that's at fault there. Beautiful image. Must have been a tremendous workshop because it has clearly inspired you. Whom was it with again?

    Regards,
Geez, people keep commenting about retrieving details in dark areas while I would tend to make the walls even darker than they are!! lol (Well I realize that these are delicate images due to the darkness, people may not see them as they are supposed to be on their monitors).

Thanks for commenting. I appreciate your view (euh, opinion...) as always! These shots are from a workshop conducted by Michael Reichmann (the guy from the Luminous Landscape) in early november. I am glad to know that you appreciate the series, this kind of industrial setup is one of my favorite subject.

yea to me i'd like to see a little more detail in the dark walls. I wish I could get in that kind of enviroment. So many possibilities!

    Re: Exit to nowhere

Seb, I am seeing some of the brick details especially closest to the opening. the thing for me about this image is the dark object in front of the door. Instead of adding something to the image, it rather feels to be in the way. In my opinion, this is not one of the stronger images from your set.

I'm with Gary. That...thing...is the only nitpick I have. Otherwise, fabulous! I'd rather see it with that thing in there than not see it all, though. Wanted to make sure you knew that!

xsport, Gary, dbutler, Thanks for further commenting. I feel ambivalent about "the thing" at that point. It does get in the way somehow but I can't help thinking that picture would be too straightforward and somewhat unbalanced without it. I'll wait before I see if I print it or not. Maybe I'll figure things out.

    Seb,

Strong shot IMO. I would like to see the bricks on the inside a little brighter, though that may throw off the strong effect of the open door. I don't mind the "thing", and I like the grafitti coming thorugh. Did you try it black and white? That might also be an interesting thing to try out.

    Nice shot,

    Jared

    Thanks Jared,

Honnestly, I haven't tried b&w, I liked the red from the graffiti. That being said, a good conversion could leads to interesting results. I'll experiment with it.
