    exersize in white

I was trying to get the full tonality into the whites here.
It's hard even in the bright yet diffuse light of a consevatory.
Not sure if they would let me use reflectors to get a little directional light.
I like the composition, but realize I should have used a greater depth of field to get the trailer in sharper focus.
Should I try bracketing in TV?

Great shot of the Orchid! (?). I think the exposure is perfect on the flower and the image is very sharp. The bright green and yellow leaves in the background are a little distracting/overpowering and I think it might have been better with a background that was the same as on the left hand side of the shot.

    Thanks osprey.
I kind of like the way the green+yellow plants mimic the shape of the bloom in a cascade to the lower right. Although I agree about their impact. I thought that that by getting the vine coming off the flower sharper, I would have lessened that impact on the photo as a whole

This is a very pleasing composition and I agree that the green/yellow is complimentary, but also think it should be toned down just a bit. You can do this by slightly desaturating and darkening that part of the background. If you want to bring out more texture in the Orchid petals, either use the "clarify" tool at 3-4 or use "burn" at a very low opacity (9-12%)
    Here's an example:

It makes me want to move the camera a few inches to the right.

    Otherwise very nice.
    No, I DON'T need that.

I would prefer just "one" story --- with no green and yellow plants to interfere with that incredibly beautiful white flower. I echo MB1 in moving to the right to get just that white flower -- alone. I think that would be "the shot."

The title is dangerously misleading; I was expecting Richard Simmons in a white tank top and short shorts. (Phew.)

I agree with Penny and MB about the composition. But the flower itself is great. The sharpness/detail/tonal range you've managed to get therein is admirable.

Beautiful flower and shot. On composition I'm either way. Well done. S
