Very creative Loupey...I like the layout...The larger items at the bottom gives the layout a strong base to sit on...Maybe,,I would have placed the CF card nearer the loup..
Did you place the items on a light table??

Very creative! I love this idea...and honestly, I really like the picture as is...I don't see much to critique at all.

very cool idea! I do agree with Jurgen though, I would place the CF card nearer the rest of the objects, becuse it seems kind of detached. then you might be able to do a tighter crop.

    Re: Evolution of Photography

I'd like to see more of the negatve on the bottom of this pile !
Perhaps move the slides up a bit to bridge the gab toward the CF card?
Nice idea, I'll maybe steal it in a year or so when I get my Dad'd old negatives out of their packets. The oens that the mice didn't eat anyhow

Glad you all enjoyed it! Yeah, Jurgen, this was shot on my light table. I was feeling a little reminiscent last night but I figured someone had to have done this already

Thanks for the comments. The crop for this was difficult to select. I will post the original shot as well as a couple others (which I feel are actually stronger graphically but don't tell the story quite as good) when I get home tonight

    Hi Loupey,

Very cool shot. I like the placement of the CF card relative to everything else. I think being on top is appropriate due to it's relative newness and the distance emphasizes the differences between the card and everything else. But, I agree about the negative on bottom. I wish I could see more of it.

    Just my two cents.

Hey Loupey,,you missed one very important element,,,,a couple of B/W negatives...I'd choose TriX IMHO the best B/W film ever made..

    Re: Evolution of Photography

It makes me a little sad, actually. I hope people don't forget the old way. I know I won't and will continue to use my darkroom (well....it's my bathroom, but you get the point). I think you hit it on the nose when you placed the memory card a little further away than everything else. I mean if you think about it, where there were all of those different ways of getting pictures and slides, now many people use just that one. I would like to see the rest of the negative in the bottom right. It throws off the balance a bit. The cropping of the left bottom works well for me, though.

    Re: Evolution of Photography

Photophorous and molaselake - exactly! I placed the CF card there for that reason as it is a radically different medium. The only regret I have is that the CF card looks like it's floating - no shadows to ground it. Molaselake, I attended a camera show last weekend and some dealers were trying to sell darkroom equipment. No was interested and most of the activity centered around old collectibles with no intentions of actually being used I asked if anyone was interested in my color enlarger - no takers.

Jurgen, I agree with you. I must have run a couple thousand or so linear feet of that stuff in the 80's But, gotta draw the line somewhere - or else I would have to throw in 110 strips, disk film, and APS canisters.

Anyway, as promised, here is the full uncropped version of the original post. I actually like the other two better. Please let me know if you agree, disagree, don't care...

Thanks for going down memory lane with me!
