    Great!

Sure it would have been nice to get a little more complete "dog" and a little more fill in the shadows. But what great expressions and composition! Bet you won't get this shot ever again

Oh, I agree, I shoot animals(cameras only!!) and it can be TERRIBLY hard to get just the right shot, you have an excellent picture. I was trying to give "critique" on what would make this shot "better" in my opinion.

Thanks Chow and Loupey for your thoughts on this...

Chow...I agree about the ear...unfortunately, Sadie has big ears and I have a messy house for background... Hehe...

Loupey, you're right, I don't know that I would be able to duplicate the expressions...my daughter and I were in stitches because I would say "wanna treat?" and they'd cock their heads...and on this one, they happened to lean towards each other...lol.

yeah, great shot! A little dark but not bad. You really nailed the focus on this. Those Canon lenses are super sharp and may I say better than Nikon's.

Ha! This is great! The dogs have so much character in this picture already, i really don't think having the complete head in the shot would improve it all that much.

    Hi Emily!

Cute pups! i love their expressions! But I am finding the darkness on their faces a little too distracting, I keep wanting to fix it. If it were mine I'd nudge up the shadows just a little to bring out the details in their faces.

Here's a quick trick you can try next time you only have the bounce flash and a situation like this with people or creatures that are low to the ground. Try spreading out a white towel or sheet or a good sized piece of aluminum foil to use as a floor reflector, (they don't have to sit on it, it can be just in front of them on the floor), then you get your fill light and your soft spread from the bounce all with one flash burst. It's cheap, it's easy and it works.

Herriot, CLK, Liz & GB...thanks for your thoughts and comments!

CLK...thanks for the tip re: the towel/sheet. I'll try that.
