    Erie Sunrise

Taken around Ocean City, Md, the clouds caused an interesting sun effect and colors. The blue and black & white are color experiments - What do you think?

    Taken on Kodachrome 64.

I like the B&W best. Perhaps a little adjustment in curves may make it even better, still like it though.

nice shot, I like the original. I like how the reflection draws your eyes back up to the sun.

    payn and James -

Thanks for commenting. I seem to like them all in a different way. The black and white is interesting from the pt of how hard it is to do a sunrise/sunset in B&W and still make it interesting. It probably could be adjusted in PS a bit (too bad I've yet to dedicate the time to learn levels with any proficiency). James - good pt about the reflection, I guess I didnt even realize that.

I like the muted colors in the original. I like the others too. It's a fun image to play around with in PS.

I sorta like the B&W best, although its hard to quantify why.

I like the B&W best as well. For me, it reminds me of the ocean in those old hollywood movies where they used hollywood midnight to look like it was night. Like in that Joan Crawford movie where she walks into the ocean to release her violinist lover from her hold.

See??? It made me think, stirred up my imagination.

It seems like the B&W has drawn the most interest. I guess it does have a retro (40s, 50s) feel to it. I played a little more with it with Corel PhotoPaint, but it's hard to get right. Here's another variation.

    Thanks for the comments everyone!

I like this last version the best. But, it doesn't really look like a sunrise to me. I would have thought it was just a really cool moon shot. I guess that's just me. Cool shot, either way.

Black and White Sunset! Love it! I shall be the dissenter and say I like the second picture the best though. Just like the mood the colors create better.
I once shot half a roll of sunset in Negril, Jamaica before I realized I hadn't switched out my B/W roll for the color roll. D'oh! Perhaps I shall dig out one of those and submit it to the forum for comparison. . .
