Hey CL. I like it, but for me, the OOF "nose" and the blow out area on the side of the "nose" is kind of distracting. Other than that, I think it's a really cool image.

Interesting one here, Cindy. Have you got one with focus on the 'nose'? The 'eyes' are pretty sharp, but the focal point seems a tad off. I'd love to see one from a little farther out...sort of a whole 'face' shot. JMHO.
Oh WOW - I love it, reminds me of the mutt sitting at my feet.
I agree about the nose and the blown area, but I love the texture and the colouring in the wood.
Well spotted.

CL -- It was a good find, but I also feel that the nose/cheeks area is way too blown out. The pic is also a little too soft, esp around the eyes (even with tree faces, the eyes need to be the sharpest it would seem). Also, not sure why you offset it. This one may call for a dead-center composition.

Thank you all for your responses. I realize that this one had technical problems but plunged ahead with posting it anyway as the location is near my home and I will have a chance to address the focus and brightness issues. It's actually one of my radiant style pics. I have attached the original that I made it from. I was out with my kids at a park and spotted the eye in the tree, so I popped off a few shots with this idea in mind. Truly I had the wrong lens on the camera for the job, plus a four year old pulling on my elbow. Out of the four I shot this was the only one with sufficient focus to use. So I plan to go back without kids this week and re-shoot it properly with a tripod, focus, my brain, etc. I decided to frame the "face" to the side because a common criticism I receive on these is that they are too symmetrical.
Again thanks everyone for your input I will post the redo.
now that I can see the original I think you did a marvelous job on the post work. I can't wait to see the reshoot. Since you are already going to be there with the tripod why not take a few extra shots at varying exposure settings and try doing it as an HDR before you start doing your radiant styling to it?
Shooting with an Olympus Evolt E-510 and loving it
Thanks Jaedon! You know, it might be just me, maybe it's the time of the year, but I keep seeing bunny in this face, maybe I should change the title to "Bright Eyes"? (j/k)
