i like the photo but not the shoes, they don't seem to fit the mood. I'm assuming it's the only prop you had at the time, but in an ideal world a crate or desaturated life jacket would have been on hand
I like it but it does seem a little dark.
The shoes are fine for a prop.
Probably just me but I'd move them about half way from where they are and the end of the dock and a little farther left. I have no idea why I would but I would.
Nice stuff, Greg.
Greg .. a very pleasing shot, as you always produce. I agree that the dock needs SOME prop - shoes are as good as anything I suppose, and asks the question as to where the owner is: out swimming? Is he/she ok? Without them the image would be just a little "too" empty I think. Assuming the shoes are the prop you wanted, they are nicely placed.
Moving on from what Mike said above, perhaps place the shoes is a "roughed" up position, laces everywhere. It is a beautiful shot, I wish it was printed large and hanging on my lounge room wall.

This leads me to think that a t-shirt and maybe pants with the shoes would create the mystery of a swimmer. I do agree that this is a great shot and definitely frameable
Thanks all, I wasn't sure if the shoes were enough, it was all I had. It was very cold and I wasn't going to take anything else off. The first one was a 40sec exposure. I was trying to give the lake a frozen look.
Mike I will see if I can add a layer in PS and make the dock pop a little more. Here is another from the morning. I was fighting a dying battery.
I am like Barney Fife, I have a gun but Andy makes me keep the bullet in my pocket..
I like the concept and the long exposure look. I don't care for the shoes. If anything maybe a chair or some kinda of lantern or hanging light that would throw off some kinda of shadow just a thought.
