    The End

I sort of find military graveyards attractive. Must be the clean, symmetric layout. Just seems pretty peaceful.

Two shots of the Point Loma military cemetary in San Diego. The two scenes are just a little ways apart and were shot within a minute of each other, but the patchy fog makes it seem like they were shot on different days.

gb, they're both nice - but that second one is really eerie! Strange yet entrancing lighting - almost looks like moonlight falling upon the gravestones.

GB, I know what you mean...I like the symmetry and repetition that you have here. I really like the first one a lot...I like that you can still see the stones in the distance, despite the fog. The only thing I would suggest for that one is crop out that one partial tombstone...it throws it off a little bit for me.
I like the color and tone in the 2nd picture also.

I like the second! It is like they are still marching through the woods. Gives one pause to see so many huh? I'm attracted to all cemetaries, but the military ones hold a special place.

    WOW!

love both. I can't choose which one I like better they're both excellent. I'm really speechless here, nothing to add really. But great images you got here, love the fog in the 1st and perspectice in the 2nd going through the trees.

    Both very strong GB
The second one for me too but I feel the large dark tree on the right is a little too imposing.
All the images of these military burial grounds never fail to bring home how crazy we all are.

In #2, the foreground to background light contrast is very nice. Impressive capture, impressive image.

    Re: The End

    ThKS for the responses everyone.

OBie - It seems like most everyone thinks #2 is erie. I never considered it that, but the colors are somewhat tranquil (and strange). This area gets a lot of fog and resulting colors.

Emily - Thks. Sure looks like Arlington eh? I tried cropping that stone, but it looked too plain. Maybe I should have moved up and focused on that one with the flowers?

D - Yeah, it does look like they're marching though it's mostly a navy cemetary. To me, it looks like planted crops on a farm. Military cems are the only ones that are this abstract because of the sameness of the stones, and are soooooo evenly spaced ... like in formation.

Thanks Leels. Have driven past this spot a hundred times and finally decided to photograph it, though I have always felt a little ackward doing so, like some relative might see and object. But that never happens 99% of the time anyways.

Jessica - I think it was about 12 noon. The fog's usually burned off by then, it hung around that day. That blue cast was strange... shot it on Kodachrome too, which normally leans towards the yellows.

Tom - Yeah, maybe one day all the armies will be disbanded. That tree is pretty strong. I could tone down the contrast but the photo might lose its impact.
