El Paso and Mexico Vista

I've posted a photo on this location before, but doing a little desert town traveling and visited this El Paso spot again. It's on the Franklin Mountains facing Juarez, Mexico.

Pretty, or strange? This is a three shot HDR.

The tones while I understand are due to the illumination do not look appealing

Composition wise I like the portrait version

Yeah I see what you mean Armando. The tones just don't hit right (for whatever reason), and personally, I don't care for the colors.

Here's another artistic dabble -- like it?

Though somewhat temped, I'm not walking over the border into Juarez ... too many inmates running the asylum over there.

Yeah I like the edit , the movement of the trees now looks nice !

the second, edited one works very well. The colors in the other are too distracting and odd for me. The edited version kicks the drama way up.

The HDR was very well done, it still looks like natural light look. I agree with you on the color issues, and the blurry tree in the first shot was a problem. Your most recent edit is a great improvement. For some reason, the blurriness was visually unpleasant in the first two images, but it works well with the tones in your recent edit.

I agree on the edit. The blurred trees add something hard to describe.
Not enough of them in the first capture.

Thanks Amigos! I think the edit looks a little sinister or at least mysterious, maybe more along the lines of Transylvania or a graveyard, but at least it doesn't create a whatever impression.

One thing that I was looking for - and didn't find yet - is a better border/matte tool/stencil that would look more like torn paper. Any ideas of how to do this?

Interesting how the blurriness is Ok and even beneficial to the image once it's slid over into the 'artwork' category, but doesn't work for a more straightforward photograph...
