    Egyptian Vegetable Merchant

This is a veggie merchant I photographed last year in Egypt - complete with hookah pipe. I'm considering this one for one of my camera club's print competitions (the original is much higher resolution) so I would appreciate any comments.

    Cheers

This is not a bad people shot at all, but for some reason it is not that powerful as it seems it should or could be. I think the fact that he is surrounded by so much and everything is lit equally bright is taking away a bit from the subject. It is good, but I think a little lighting enhancement here could strenghthen this some more.

I am slightly bothered that I can not see his eyes. But this might just be an artifact of the digital transfering. Don't mind that point too much. The nice thing about this photo is the nice little textures here and there, and the emphasis on form and shape. I would partially agree with gahspidy about the composition being a bit distracting from the subject. Perhaps a tighter crop would help.

I'm wondering if this photo would be better suited to colour. You could also have afforded to move back a little and get a bit more of the produce into the shot. Like it all the same though.

I do like the composition of this shout but I'm with overbeyond on this - This needs to be in colour. The other thing is 1 I could be tired, 2 my monitor is going, 3 its a tad out of focus around the head.

I also think that you could have soomed in for a closer shot of the person which would have been a better shot in black and white.

Have you got more pics of Egypt?
