The Edge of Mexico

I shot this with my Canonet on Tmax 100. It was taken in Big Bend NP on the shore of the Rio Grande River. The mountains on the right are in Mexico.

Thanks for commenting. The sky would pretty much look the same in color, because it was cloudy. Besides, this was B&W film so color is not an option. I do have a few other shots from this area that I took with my D70s, but I like the composition of this one best.

Nice shot overall, to me anyways, as I like shots of quiet areas with nice scenery. The shot does seem soft to me however. Did you use a tripod? Could also be due to the resizing.

If the sky was a bit more interesting it would have really been nice cause the foreground is diverse enough, and the middle ground and cliffs are enough to hold one's attention. If the sun was poking through the clouds... That might have been all you needed to round it out. But it doesnt seem like they were going to cooperate with you anytime soon.........

I wish the lighting had been better too. I'm sure I'll go back sometime, but I didn't have a chance to reshoot this when I was there. As for the softness, there could be a couple of causes. First, I was shooting hand held, probably at about 1/30. 1/30 is not hard to do with that camera, but I still could have messed it up. The other reason could be that I scanned the negative with a cheap flat bed scanner. I guess I won't know for sure unless I go to the darkroom...which I'm debating doing.

Yeah, the reflection of the river and the canyon (?) is really nice.
If the sky was a bit more dynamic, it would've been the perfect shot.
