    Easter Holiday boredom blues

I think my kids are trying to cure the Easter Holiday boredom blues lol.
I caught my 16 year old daughter painting a dalmation my 6 year old daughters face today.
    I love this shot!
Would love to know what you think.

I love it and it is very inspiring to shooting today on this gloomy easter weekend. Was this originally bw using digital? Please share some technical info....I've done bw on film but never in digital.

I have a Canon EOS 350D. Shot in RAW format, 50mm 1.8 lens, f/3.5, ss 1/100, ISO 200, 430ex flash bounced off the ceiling.
Converted to b&w in adobe pscs, using a gradient map and brightening my levels.
I also burned the black paint on the face slighty with the burn tool.
Here's the colour version, (the black and white, including the crop, does more for me).

    Alison,

Great shot...the color one doesn't do much for me (not huge on the vertical crop), but the first one is spectacular. Love the sharpness and the DOF is great. Wonderful subject matter and a keeper for sure!

    Hi Alison,
The B&W verison is a clever choice. I like the texture of the cosmetics on the girl's face. The tinted thumb nail also tells us the hand is responible for the white pigment. The lighting from the right is also very a good choice. I wish the brush were not near the nose but on the other part of the face, which I guess would have a stronger composition. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, the horz B&W crop was a good choice.

    Well done.
